I planned our Thanksgiving menu today, which got me thinking about my favorite part: setting the table! I'm going after bits of gold this year.

Blackboard Cabinets

 

Just when I thought I was tired of seeing blackboard paint,  I stumbled on this kitchen in the November '08 Gourmet.  I love the idea of a blackboard as a backdrop for open shelving - a great way to showcase that favorite recipe of Grandma's! I'd write up this recipe for pumpkin pancakes that I make all the time but can't quite remember.

Wall Stories

   

I think I use most of my airline miles on trips to New York - and usually because there's an exhibition at  Cooper-Hewitt I'd like to see.   Case in point - Wall Stories: Children's Wallpapers and Books.  It runs through the beginning of April '09 and looks amazing.  There's free admission to the museum October 19-25th for National Design Week. If you go - tell me about it!
