Wine and cheese are two of my favorite things. Bon Appetit lists 10 new wine bars in their October issue, and Bar Bambino looks especially good.

Paris Bistro Chairs

 

I love the Paris Bistro Chairs in Katie Lee Joel's kitchen (Domino June/July '08). WS Home has them new for Fall, and Domino listed the Cafe Society Store as a source, but both options are pretty pricey.  I'll be going with Maison Midi's [affordable] version.

Buckingham Interiors + Design

   

I'm in love with the desk in designer Julia Buckingham Edelmann's gorgeous office. Julia brought the Italian industrial table home from New Orleans, and spent two days pulling 5000 staples out of the top of the desk with needle nose pliers. The table's 5 legs broke off during shipping and had to be reinstalled by the emergency furniture doc only to be re-broken again to fit into her office!  What a labor of love! 

I could easily move into this office. The chandelier is a 1960's Sciolari fixture, the Mies 'MR' chairs are from Harvey Art & Antiques in Evanston, and Julia brought the 19th c Swedish herbarums home from Paris. Check out more of Julia's [awesome] work here.

Staycation

 

Theo and I are taking some time off, and we decided to stay home and enjoy the city instead of heading out of town.  We couldn't have picked a better week - the weather has been amazing in Chicago. This picture just says 'relaxation' to me, and that's the name of the game this week. Ditte Isager for the September 2008 issue of Conde Nast Traveler.
